In 1935 Provence, France the bickering residents of a rural village have been without a baker for seven weeks. When the new baker, Aimable, and his radiant young wife, Genevieve arrive, the village is filled with joy; but when Genevieve is lured away by a handsome young man, the middle-aged baker loses all zest for life and baking. Will the villagers be successful in their endeavors to bring Aimable and Genevieve back together?
